Embracing Wellbeing and Restfulness this Easter

As the long Easter weekend approaches, it's a perfect time for employees to unwind, recharge and incorporate healthy habits into their days off. With a stretch of leisure time ahead, it's an ideal opportunity to focus on wellbeing, both physical and mental.

In this article, we'll explore how some of our employees are planning to make the most of their Easter weekend, with tips and inspiration that can help everyone to emerge from the break feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

Alli, Head of RCM

Alli is taking her Easter weekend to the seaside, embracing the serenity of the coast from her caravan alongside her four granddaughters. With the sea breeze as their backdrop, they'll spend their days outdoors, whether that's playing in the park or on the beach, soaking in the joy of nature. In the evenings, the caravan becomes a hub of storytelling, singing and dancing, creating cherished memories and laughter.

Alli maintains her wellness routine on holiday, and as she’s training for the Edinburgh marathon in May she is seizing the opportunity for with coastal runs and plans to complement her regimen with cold water dipping and yoga for complete mind and body harmony.

Wellbeing Tip: Even a weekend getaway can be an opportunity to nurture your wellbeing.

Incorporate aspects of your daily routine that you love, like exercise or mindfulness practices, into your holiday. This not only maintains your health regime but can also enrich your vacation experience.

Molly, Executive Assistant

Molly has earmarked her Easter weekend for a rejuvenating session of decluttering, both in her home and for her mind. Embracing the tranquillity of the countryside, she's ready to put on her headphones and set out on long walks, allowing the surroundings to wash away any stress and refresh her spirit.

With the changing of the seasons as her inspiration, Molly is also planning a thorough wardrobe detox. She's committed to sifting through her belongings to let go of the old, creating space for the new.

Wellbeing Tip: Use the seasons as a cue to declutter both your environment and your mind.

A good clear-out can be incredibly liberating and is often accompanied by a sense of relief and readiness for new beginnings. Compliment these tasks with some exercise such as a good walk to maximise your sense of wellbeing and enter the new season with clarity and calm.

Matty, Wellbeing Physiologist

Gearing up for the Edinburgh half marathon, Matty is using the Easter weekend to balance his training with social festivities and personal development. On Saturday he's committed to a long run and then plans to refresh, catching up with friends and enjoying a well-deserved meal.

Sunday is all about recovery, starting with a trip to the local leisure centre for a morning sauna session, allowing his muscles to relax and his mind to unwind, and if the unpredictable Scottish weather is kind, he'll cap off the day with a leisurely afternoon walk.

Extending his Easter break, Matthew has taken additional leave until the Wednesday. He'll be heading to Glasgow for a three-day sports massage course which aligns with his interest in sports therapy, an opportunity he's been eager to pursue.

Wellbeing Tip: Intertwine your passions with your profession for a fulfilling life balance.

Use your downtime to invest in skills that not only advance your career but also fuel your personal interests.

Maya, Recruitment Manager

For Maya, the bank holiday weekend is a canvas for productivity, self-improvement and creativity. This Easter, she's set to kick off the break with a long run along the South Downs or the seafront at Brighton Beach, allowing the natural landscape to energise her morning.

But it's not all about physical health; her home is calling for attention too. She's on a mission to complete those lingering DIY projects, with the transformation of her kitchen sink through a spot of spray painting at the top of the list.

In the quieter moments of the weekend, Maya is planning to indulge in her love for scrapbooking. It's her chance to unwind and channel her artistic flair, preserving memories and expressing her creativity on paper.

Wellbeing Tip: A balanced weekend should cater to all aspects of your life – physical, mental and emotional.

Mix activities like running and gym workouts with tasks that give you a sense of accomplishment, like DIY projects.

Mitchell, DevOps Engineer

Mitch will be swapping his screens for the serene landscapes of Wales this Easter weekend. His plan is to immerse himself in the natural beauty of the hills, dedicating a few hours to wander and explore.

Wellbeing Tip: Make the most of your breaks by stepping into nature.

Whether it's hiking, walking or simply spending time outside, the natural environment is a powerful tool for rejuvenation and can significantly enhance both your physical health and mental clarity.

This Easter provides an opportunity to pause and reflect on our own wellbeing practices. It encourages us to take a step back and ask ourselves what we need to feel refreshed and to explore new or familiar activities that contribute to our overall sense of wellness. As we witness the diverse approaches of our colleagues, let us be inspired to carve out our own paths to wellbeing, ensuring that we return from this Easter break not only rested but also enriched and invigorated for the journey ahead.
